  1. Postage stamp and coin unveiled to commemorate 125th birth anniversary of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mookherjee. The Ministry of Culture organized an exhibition programme in New Delhi .
  2. The Banakacherla project which aimed at linking the Godavari and Krishna river basins, has reignited water sharing tensions between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana in 2025. Andhra Pradesh seeks to divert surplus Godavari floodwaters to drought-prone Rayalaseema, while Telangana alleges violations of inter-state water agreements.
  3. Kasaragod wins the Kerala Fisheries Department Excellence Award 2025 for outstanding achievements in aquaculture under the Popular Fish Farming Project.
  4. NTPC Simhadri celebrated its 28th Raising Day on July 8 at Parawada, Anakapalli. The plant has been generating power for nearly 30 years with 100% ash utilization. It also remains dedicated to environmental and social initiatives under Executive Director Sameer Sharma’s leadership.
  5.   The Supreme Court Wednesday refused to halt the release of the movie ‘Udaipur Files‘. It is based on the murder case of Rajasthan-based tailor Kanhaiya Lal, and denied an urgent listing of the plea filed by one of the accused.
  6. India is advancing its strategic partnership with Russia by exploring the establishment of a maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facility for the S-400 air defence systems within its territory.
  7. The successful user trials of the Extended Range Anti-Submarine Rocket (ERASR) from INS Kavaratti mark a major advancement in India’s indigenous naval defence capabilities. The significance of ERASR lies in its role as a fully indigenous anti-submarine weapon system, developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) in collaboration with key Indian defence laboratories.
  8.  The Indian Navy has received its first indigenously designed and built Diving Support Vessel (DSV), INS Nistar, from Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL) at Visakhapatnam.
  9. Army doctor Rohit Bachwala helped a woman deliver her baby at Jhansi railway station after she went into sudden labour. He showed courage, calmness, and selfless commitment in the busy public setting. For his actions, he received the Chief of Army Staff Commendation Card.
  10. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been honoured with Namibia’s highest civilian award. President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah presented him the “Order of the Most Ancient Welwitschia Mirabilis.” He is the first Indian leader to receive this prestigious award. India Namibia sign MoUs in field of Health and Medicine and to set up Entrepreneurship Development Center. Namibia agrees to join global biofuel alliance and to launch UPI system.
  11. French President Emmanuel Macron has called for an unconditional ceasefire in Gaza. He was addressing both houses of the British parliament. He urged the United Kingdom to work together with France on recognising a Palestinian state.
  12.  Indonesia will host the 2025 Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in Senayan, Jakarta, from October 19 to 25. This is the first time the event will be held in Indonesia. It’s also a historic moment as no Southeast Asian nation has ever hosted it before.
  13. Bismillah Jan Shinwari, a respected member of the ICC International Panel of Umpires, passed away at the young age of 41 on Monday, July 7, 2025. He died while undergoing abdominal surgery in Peshawar, Pakistan. Shinwari began his journey in international umpiring in 2017, officiating his first One-Day International (ODI) between Afghanistan and Ireland in Sharjah.
