- President Smt Droupadi Murmu conferred Padma Awards to 69 eminent personalities for the year 2025 at the second Civil Investiture Ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi. Three 03 of them were conferred with Padma Vibhushan, 09 with Padma Bhushan and 57 personalities were conferred with Padma Shri.
- Madhya Pradesh government has approved the ‘Rahveer’ scheme, in line with Centre’s initiative to promote road safety and timely assistance during accidents.
- In Puducherry. Union Minister of State for Ayush, Prataprao Jadhav, inaugurated the ‘Yoga Mahotsav 2025’.
- The Central Apprenticeship Council has recommended 30 percent increase in stipend provided for youth under National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme- NAPS and National Apprenticeship Training Scheme- NATS.
- Union Minister of State for Railways and Jal Shakti V Somanna has written a letter to Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to reverse the decision of the state Government to close down Jan Aushadhi Kendras. Jan Aushadhi Kendras in the state have been providing affordable medicines and surgical items to the people.
The Central Board of Direct Taxes- CBDT has extended the last date of filing Income Tax Returns (ITRs), from 31st July to 15th September this year. - Coal imports in the country during the financial year 2024-25 dropped by 7.9 percent as compared to the previous fiscal year. The Ministry of Coal, in a statement said that coal imports in the country totalled more than 243 million tonnes in the financial year 2024-25 as compared to 264.53 million tonnes in the previous fiscal year.
- India is developing Electric Hansa (E-Hansa), a next-generation two-seater electric trainer aircraft. This indigenously developed E-Hansa aircraft is roughly half the price of imported trainer aircraft.
- The Defence Minister exhorted DPSUs to focus on the timely delivery of products to the Armed Forces. He congratulated Hindustan Aeronautics Limited on getting the Maharatna status and Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL) on getting the Navratna Status.
- According to the latest edition of India Army’s magazine Baatcheet dedicated to OPERATION SINDOOR, the logo of the decisive military action was designed by Lt Col Harsh Gupta and Hav Surinder Singh.
- The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has invited the chiefs of India’s armed forces to attend the IPL 2025 final as a special tribute to Operation Sindoor. The Indian Premier League’s final match will be contested on June 3 at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium.
- India actively participated in the 9th BRICS Industry Ministers’ Meeting held in Brasília of Brazil on 21st May 2025. The theme was “Strengthening Global South Cooperation for More Inclusive and Sustainable Governance.” The event highlighted India’s leadership in promoting innovation, startup collaboration, and digital industrial transformation among BRICS nations.
- India’s Gulveer Singh has clinched the gold medal in the Men’s 10,000-metre race at the Asian Athletics Championships in Gumi, South Korea. He secured the top spot clocking 28 minutes, 38.63 seconds.
- Indian para athlete Mahendra Gurjar has scripted history by setting a new world record in the men’s F42 javelin category with a throw of 61.17 meters at the Nottwil World Para Athletics Grand Prix in Switzerland. The 27-year-old broke the previous record of 59.19 meters set by Brazil’s Roberto Floriani Edenilson in 2022.
