- 11th International Day of Yoga celebrated across the country and abroad with great enthusiasm and participation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasises yoga as a tool for global harmony, urging nations to adopt it as part of public policy. PM Modi attended a 45 minutes Yoga Session following the Common Yoga Protocol along the scenic coastline at Vishakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh.
- The country’s first yoga policy was launched in Uttarakhand. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that this policy has been prepared with the aim of establishing Uttarakhand as a global capital in the field of yoga and wellness. subsidy of up to 20 lakh rupees is being provided for developing yoga and meditation centres in the state. A grant up to 10 lakh rupees has also been made to promote research in the field of yoga, meditation and naturopathy in the state.
- On the occasion of International Yoga Day on 21st June, a special ‘Warkari Bhakti Yoga’ programme was organized in Pune. It shows the spiritual essence of the Warkari tradition with the ancient practice of Yoga. The event was held in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
- The Union Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) initiated a new system to improve road maintenance under the Prime Minister Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY). The system involves attaching QR codes to maintenance information display boards for roads constructed under the scheme. This innovation aims to collect public feedback on road quality and maintenance.
- The Karnataka government has approved a 5% hike in housing reservation for religious minorities which raising the quota from 10% to 15%. The decision, taken during a state Cabinet meeting led by CM Siddaramaiah which aims to address housing gaps among minority communities.
- The Barak-8 air defence system has made its operational debut in the ongoing Iran-Israel conflict. The Barak-8 air defence system is a product of Indo-Israeli collaborative Technology.
- India has expanded its evacuation efforts under Operation Sindhu to include stranded citizens of Nepal and Sri Lanka in Iran as a significant gesture of regional solidarity.
- The Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY) launched a global initiative titled ‘Yoga Bandhan’. It aims to bringing together yoga experts from 15 countries to celebrate international unity and wellness through yoga.
- Indian wrestlers delivered stellar performances at the Under-23 Asian Championships, winning six medals including five gold medals in the men’s freestyle category at Vung Tau in Vietnam on the final day . Five gold medals were won by Nikhil in 61 Kg, Sujeet Kalkal in 65 Kg, Jaideep in 74 Kg, Chander Mohan in 79 Kg and Sachin in 92 Kg.
- Rishabh Pant went past MS Dhoni for the most centuries by an Indian wicketkeeper in Test cricket which bringing up his seventh.
