  1. International Moon Day observed on July 20 to commemorates the historic Apollo 11 landing and serves as a reminder of humankind’s collective efforts in peaceful space exploration. It emphasizes the importance of international cooperation, sustainability and the scientific and cultural value.
  2. England will host the next three ICC World Test Championship finals in 2027, 2029, and 2031. The ICC announced the decision at its annual conference in Singapore, citing England’s successful past events and favourable June weather. England previously hosted the finals in 2021 (Southampton), 2023 (The Oval), and 2025 (Lord’s).
  3. India won its first-ever badminton medal at the FISU World University Games in Berlin, claiming bronze in the mixed team event. Devika Sihag earned India’s only point in the semifinal, beating higher-ranked Huang Ching Ping. Earlier, the team, led by Sathish Kumar Karunakaran, defeated Malaysia 3-2 to secure a podium finish. Swimmer Srihari Nataraj set a new Indian record in the 100m freestyle, clocking 49.46 seconds.
  4. The three-day Youth Spiritual Summit on “Drug-free Youth for Developed India” ended with the Kashi Declaration, committing to a national anti-drug campaign. Union Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya highlighted Prime Minister Modi’s belief in youth as key to building a developed nation and introduced the Kashi Sankalp Patra as a guiding roadmap. Himachal Pradesh Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla said the summit sparked national awareness against drug abuse. Over 600 youth from 120+ spiritual groups participated, along with several Union and state ministers.

India is developing AdFalciVax, its first indigenous malaria vaccine, to fight the deadly Plasmodium falciparum parasite.ICMR and DBT-NII are jointly leading the vaccine’s development with strong preclinical results.The vaccine aims to block infection and reduce malaria transmission in communities.ICMR plans to license it to manufacturers under non-exclusive agreements for wider public health reach.
  6. Prince Al-Waleed, known as Saudi Arabia’s ‘Sleeping Prince,’ passed away at 36 after nearly 20 years in a coma. He was the eldest son of Prince Khaled bin Talal, a key member of the Saudi royal family. A car accident in London in 2005 left him with a traumatic brain injury. Doctors later moved him to King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh for ongoing care. Funeral prayers will take place today after Asr at Imam Turki bin Abdullah Mosque in Riyadh.
