- Thailand’s Opal Suchata Chuangsri was crowned Miss World 2025 after the grand finale in Hyderabad on Saturday, May 31. She was crowned by Miss World 2024 Krystyna Pyszkova at the finale ceremony held at the HITEX Exhibition Centre.
- India’s Miss World contestant Nandini Gupta was eliminated before she could reach top 8 at the 72nd Miss World contest on Saturday, being held in Hyderabad.
- The first Miss World from India was Reita Faria, who won the crown in 1966. Incidentally, she was also the first Asian Miss world. Aishwarya Rai won the crown in 1994, Diana Hayden in 1997, Yukta Mookhey in 1999, and Priyanka Chopra in 2000.
- The Prime Minister addressed the Women Empowerment Maha Sammelan organized on the 300th birth anniversary of Lokmata Devi Ahilya Bai at Jamboori Maidan in Bhopal. The government released a commemorative postage stamp and a special coin dedicated to Devi Ahilyabai. The Prime Minister presented the National Devi Ahilyabai Award to Dr. Jayamati Kashyap who is a distinguished artist and famous for her exceptional contributions to tribal, folk and traditional arts.
- The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) introduced new guidelines to regulate the sale of radio equipment, particularly walkie-talkies, on e-commerce platforms. This initiative aims to enhance consumer safety and ensure compliance with legal requirements regarding wireless communication devices.
- India has achieved a significant milestone in global electronics manufacturing by surpassing China as the largest exporter of iPhones to the United States, according to a report by market research firm Omdia. In April 2025, nearly three million iPhones manufactured in India were shipped to the US, marking a 76% year-on-year increase.
- The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) freedom fighters claimed to have taken complete control of Surab city in the Balochistan province, paralysing all military, administrative and financial structures of the state.
- At the Asian Athletics Championships 2025 in Gumi, South Korea, India finished second in the medal tally with 24 medals. India clinched eight gold, 10 silver and six bronze in the Championships.
- Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem clinched the gold medal while India’s Sachin Yadav claimed silver in the javelin throw event at the Asian Athletics Championships 2025 in Gumi, South Korea.
