- Bihar begins vegetable exports to Dubai via VEGFED cooperative. Bihar has started exports of green vegetables produced by Cooperative marketing federations, VEGFED, which has been constituted on the lines of the milk cooperative, COMFED. A first consignment of 1500 kilograms of green vegetables was sent to Dubai via Varanasi.
- The Election Commission of India (ECI) is implementing changes to improve the speed of voter turnout reporting. This initiative aims to address concerns raised by opposition parties regarding delays in releasing turnout figures during elections. The new mobile application, ECINET, will streamline the reporting process ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections in Bihar.
- Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra has reportedly married Biju Janata Dal leader Pinaki Mishra in a private ceremony in Germany. The two-time Lok Sabha member M Moitra from Krishnanagar has not yet issued a public statement regarding the wedding. P Mishra is a veteran parliamentarian from Odisha’s Puri and a senior advocate of the Supreme Court.
- Walmart-owned Flipkart has received approval from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to operate as a Non-Banking Financial Company (NBFC). With this licence Flipkart can now offer loans directly to its customers and sellers moving beyond partnerships with traditional lenders.
- Subedar Major Ojit Singh has been appointed as the first Command Subedar Major (Comd SM) of the Indian Army, a post reflecting the growing recognition of the vital role that the Junior Commissioned Officers (JCOs) and Other Ranks (ORs) essay in evolution of the force.
- Dassault Aviation, the French manufacturer of the Rafale fighter jet, has entered into a landmark partnership with Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) to manufacture key components of the Rafale aircraft in India. This collaboration will see the establishment of a state-of-the-art production facility in Hyderabad.
- The year 2025 marks the 50th anniversary of the Group of 7 (G7) meetings. Canada is hosting the G7 Leaders’ Summit from June 15 to 17 in Kananaskis, Alberta. This will be Canada’s seventh time as host.
- US President Donald Trump has signed a proclamation banning the citizens of 12 countries from entering the United States, citing national security and public safety threats. The proclamation signed by the President Trump fully restricts and limits the entry of nationals from 12 countries: Afghanistan, Myanmar, Chad, Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, and Yemen.
- US President Donald Trump has signed a proclamation restricting the student visas of foreign students at Harvard University. It is a temporary suspension for six months.
- A humanitarian aid vessel named Madleen, organised by the Freedom Flotilla Coalition (FFC), is en route to Gaza with a group of activists, including prominent climate campaigner Greta Thunberg. The mission aims to draw international attention to the humanitarian crisis in the Palestinian enclave and challenge the longstanding Israeli blockade.
