1. FCI Accelerates Rice Offtake from Odisha. The Food Corporation of India increased rice offtake from Odisha to create storage space for Custom Milled Rice (CMR). CMR delivery to the central pool rose from 31.63 lakh tonnes in August to 49.89 lakh tonnes by December 12. This move supports smooth procurement and storage during the ongoing Kharif season.
2. Handicraft Sector Remains Major Rural Employer. India’s handicraft sector continues to be one of the largest employment generators in rural and semi-urban areas. It provides livelihoods to artisans, women, and marginalized communities while preserving traditional skills. The sector also contributes to exports and cultural heritage promotion.
