1. WCD Minister Annpurna Devi Launches 100-Day Drive for Child Marriage Free Bharat. Union Minister Annpurna Devi launched a nationwide 100-Day Intensive Awareness Campaign to strengthen the Bal Vivah Mukt Bharat mission. The programme mobilises panchayats, anganwadis, schools, civil society, and child protection units to prevent child marriages through a structured three-phase strategy.

 

2. Parliament Passes Central Excise (Amendment) Bill 2025 to Raise Tobacco Taxes. Parliament passed the Central Excise (Amendment) Bill, 2025, raising taxes on cigarettes and tobacco products. The Bill aligns with WHO FCTC guidelines and aims to reduce tobacco consumption, increase revenue, and support India’s healthcare commitments under Ayushman Bharat.
