1. Viksit Bharat Shiksha Adhishthan Bill Referred to JPC. The Viksit Bharat Shiksha Adhishthan Bill, 2025 introduced in the Lok Sabha has been referred to a Joint Parliamentary Committee for detailed scrutiny. The referral reflects the government’s intent to examine wide-ranging reforms in higher education governance.

 

2. Single Higher Education Regulator Proposed. The Bill proposes a fundamental restructuring of higher education regulation by subsuming UGC, AICTE, and NCTE into one overarching authority. The move aims to reduce regulatory overlap and improve efficiency and quality in universities and institutions.
