  1. ISRO will launch the NISAR Earth Observation satellite with NASA on July 30 at 5:40 PM from Sriharikota. The GSLV F16 rocket will place it in a 743 km Sun Synchronous Orbit. NISAR will scan the entire Earth every 12 days, day and night, in all weather conditions. It uses dual-frequency radar—NASA’s L band and ISRO’s S band—for detailed observations. The satellite will monitor forests, storms, water, soil, sea ice, and disaster risks using advanced SweepSAR technology.
  2. Bihar has become the first Indian state where every polling station will serve fewer than 1,200 voters. The Election Commission announced this move to reduce queues and make voting more convenient. To implement it, authorities have added 12,817 new polling stations across Bihar. Previously, each polling station had a limit of 1,500 voters, now reduced to 1,200. Bihar now has 90,712 polling stations, up from 77,895. Officials collected over 7.16 crore enumeration forms under the Special Intensive Revision. Public can file objections from August 1.
  3. The Kargil District Administra’Ion warmly welcomed the 14th Dalai Lama to Zanskar yesterday. Top officials, including LAHDC Leh Chairman and Deputy Commissioner Kargil, attended the grand event. Thousands of devotees and religious representatives gathered at Karsha Photang for the welcome ceremony. The Dalai Lama addressed the crowd and offered blessings to all present. He emphasized interfaith harmony, peaceful coexistence, and balanced education. He praised Zanskar’s religious unity and compassion. His visit is part of the 2025 Zanskar Kargyopa Summer Philosophical Symposium.

The DFS Is covering all 6,794 Gram Panchayats in Odisha under its financial inclusion campaign.UCO Bank’s Goutam Patra said public, private, and rural banks are participating in the campaign.The three-month drive began on July 1 and ends on September 30.It opens PMJDY accounts and enrolls citizens in PMJJBY, PMSBY, and APY.The campaign re-verifies dormant accounts and updates nominations.It spreads awareness about digital fraud.Thirty Lead District Managers and media support the statewide effort.
  5. President Droupadi Murmu addressed the 52nd President Scouts and Guides Awards at Rashtrapati Bhavan today. She said dedicating life to nation and society is the best way to live. She honoured 16 Scouts, Guides, Rovers, and Rangers for leadership, discipline, and social service. She praised the Bharat Scouts and Guides for promoting patriotism, service, and moral values. She appreciated the strong participation of women and girls in the organisation, highlighting gender equality in action.
  6. Under the National Sickle Cell Mission, officials have screened six crore individuals for Sickle Cell Disease. They identified over 2.15 lakh patients and more than 16 lakh carriers of the disease. States like Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Rajasthan have achieved strong screening progress. Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and Maharashtra reported the highest number of confirmed cases. The Prime Minister launched the mission in 2023. The mission targets universal screening of seven crore people in tribal areas by 2047 to eliminate the disease.
  7. Bolivian President Luis Arce thanked India for donating 300,000 Measles and Rubella (MR) vaccine doses. He called the donation a timely and compassionate gesture during Bolivia’s health emergency.India also sent essential medical supplies along with the vaccines. The donation will support Bolivia’s mass immunisation drive for children aged 1 to 14. Bolivia declared a National Health Emergency on June 23 due to rising measles cases. The vaccines will help protect children during the ongoing outbreak.
  8. Minister of State Pabitra Margherita met Lesotho Prime Minister Samuel Matekane in Maseru today. They discussed strengthening India-Lesotho cooperation in key sectors. Mr Margherita also called on King Letsie III during his visit. Both sides explored ways to deepen bilateral ties and shared interests. The meetings highlighted India’s commitment to enhancing relations with Lesotho. They agreed to boost collaboration across development, trade, and diplomatic engagement.
  9. The government has completed godown construction in 11 PACS across 11 states under a pilot storage project. The project is part of the World’s Largest Grain Storage Plan in the cooperative sector. It includes creating agri-infrastructure like godowns, processing units, and Fair Price Shops through scheme convergence. Over 500 PACS are selected for godown construction, targeted for completion by December 2026. The government will also establish new PACS, dairy, and fisheries cooperatives nationwide within five years. NABARD and states support this initiative. The government approved PACS computerization with ₹2,925 crore outlay.
