  1. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has topped the global list of democratic leaders with a 75% approval rating, according to Morning Consult’s July 2025 survey. He leads ahead of South Korea’s Lee Jae-myung (59%) and Argentina’s Javier Milei (57%). Modi also became India’s second-longest serving Prime Minister, completing 4,079 days in office, surpassing Indira Gandhi. Only Jawaharlal Nehru served longer. This global recognition reflects Modi’s continued popularity and strong leadership, both domestically and internationally.
  2. Prime Minister Modi and Maldivian President Muizzu inaugurated a new 11-storey Defence Ministry building in Malé on July 25. India provided financial assistance to construct the modern defence facility in the capital city of Maldives. The building stands strategically overlooking the Indian Ocean, enhancing regional security and surveillance capabilities. It will boost the operational efficiency of Maldives’ defence and law enforcement agencies. Prime Minister Modi called it a “concrete building of trust” between India and Maldives. The project reflects strong and long-standing defence cooperation between the two countries.
  3. NADA India hosted WADA’s second Intelligence & Investigations workshop from July 21 to 25, 2025 in New Delhi. The Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports supported the event. WADA organized the workshop under its Capability and Capacity Building initiative (GAIIN). INTERPOL and Sport Integrity Australia partnered in the training. Delegates from India, Malaysia, Cambodia, Vietnam, Nepal, Myanmar, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Brunei, and the Philippines attended. Participants trained intensively in intelligence operations, investigative techniques, open‑source research, and interviewing methods. The workshop aimed to boost regional cooperation and fight doping through intelligence‑led approaches.
  4.  The University of Southampton launched India’s first foreign university campus in Gurugram under the NEP framework in July 2025. The University of Liverpool received UGC approval to open its Bengaluru campus, starting academic sessions from August 2026. York, Aberdeen, Western Australia, IIT-Illinois, and IED plan to establish campuses in Navi Mumbai. These campuses aim to deliver global-quality education in India and promote the ion and fight doping through intelligence‑led approaches.
  5. The CRPF will soon deploy commandos to Libya to protect the Indian embassy in Tripoli. CRPF Director General Gyanendra Pratap Singh announced the move during the 87th Raising Day celebrations. India reopened its embassy in Tripoli in July 2024 after a five-year closure due to civil unrest. This deployment highlights India’s commitment to safeguard its diplomats and missions in conflict-affected regions.
  6.  COP15 took place from July 23 to 31, 2025, in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. The event focused on the theme “Protecting Wetlands for Our Common Future.” Over 3,000 delegates from 172 countries gathered to address global wetland degradation. Zimbabwe pledged to restore 250,000 hectares of wetlands by 2030.
  7. Zimbabwe will also designate five new Ramsar sites during this period. Delegates proposed the Victoria Falls Declaration for global wetland conservation. They also discussed creating a Global Wetland Restoration Fund. India showcased its model restoring 68,800 wetlands using GIS and community involvement.
  8. A coalition led by RSF chief General Hemedti announced a parallel government in Sudan. They signed a transitional constitution in March for a federal, secular state with eight regions. The coalition formed a 15-member presidential council, chaired by Hemedti. Abdelaziz al-Hilu serves as deputy in the new council. Mohamed Hassan al-Taishi became prime minister in the RSF-backed cabinet. This parallel government directly challenges the military-led administration under General al-Burhan. Experts warn it may deepen Sudan’s ongoing civil conflict and political instability.
  9. Indian captain Shubman Gill scored his fourth century in the ongoing Test series versus England. He became the first captain ever to hit four hundreds in his debut Test series. Only Bradman and Gavaskar previously scored four Test centuries in a series as captains. Gill now holds the record for most 100-plus scores by any captain in a Test series against England. He already surpassed Virat Kohli’s India debut captain runs record by scoring over 460 runs in four innings.
  10. Indian athlete Seema won silver in the women’s 5000 m race at the World University Games in Germany. She became the first Indian woman to medal in the 5000 m event at these Games. Seema recorded a season-best time of 15:35.86, her second-fastest performance in the event. HShe could not participate in the 10,000 m final due to an administrative mistake.
