1. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurates Pamban vertical lift sea bridge and lays foundation for 8,300 Crore rupees worth rail and road projects in Tamil Nadu.
2. President Smt Droupadi Murmu has given her assent to the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2025, which was passed by Parliament last week. After the Presidential assent, it has become a law. The Legislation was passed in the Lok Sabha on Dt 03-05-25, with 288 members supporting it and 232 against it.

Amid the ongoing controversy over the Malayalam film ‘L2: Empuraan’ and its alleged references to the 2002 Gujarat riots, the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) has recovered ₹1.5 crore from one of the film’s producers, Gokulam Gopalan, in connection with a Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) case. The agency also found that the company had collected ₹371.80 crore in cash and ₹220.74 crore via cheque from NRIs. It was also revealed that significant amounts were paid back in cash to these individuals, violating Section 3(b) of FEMA, 1999.
10. A 170-kilometre padyatra of Anant Ambani, Director of Reliance Industries Limited, from Jamnagar to Dwarkadhish Temple, was completed yesterday, April 6. Anant Ambani’s padyatra arrived at the Dwarkadhish Temple in Gujarat.
11. INS Trikand has provided urgent critical medical assistance to a Pakistani crew of a fishing vessel operating approximately 350 nautical miles east of the Oman coast. The Defence Ministry said that the Navy’s Mission Deployed stealth frigate, INS Trikand, intercepted a distress call from an Iranian dhow, Al Omeedi, where a crew member had sustained severe injuries to his fingers while working on the engine and was in critical condition.

India plans to commission its strategic new naval base for nuclear submarines and other warships in coastal Andhra Pradesh next year, with an eye on China’s ever-expanding naval forays into the Indian Ocean Region. India is also progressively upgrading the Karwar base in Karnataka on the western seaboard.
