- Northern Railway’s Jammu Division installed India’s first direct unlocking system at Dinanagar station on 26 July 2025. The system automatically controls railway signals and point machines without human intervention. It reduces human errors and ensures safer and smoother train movements. Divisional Railway Manager Vivek Kumar said it marks a major step in railway modernisation. This upgrade supports ongoing track and coach modernisation across Jammu and Kashmir.
- NCERT will introduce modules on Shubhanshu Shukla’s space mission and Operation Sindoor in school textbooks. These modules will explain India’s defence strength, space achievements, and strategic operations using simple language. NCERT will include topics like Axiom Mission 4, Chandrayaan, Aditya L1, and Mission LiFE for better understanding.
- Saiyaara premiered on 18 July 2025 as a Hindi musical romantic drama directed by Mohit Suri. The film features debut actors Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda in lead roles. It grossed between ₹372 crore and ₹404 crore worldwide, achieving major commercial success. Yash Raj Films produced the movie, inspired by the Korean film A Moment to Remember. The film’s success highlights India’s rising strength in cinema and the global media industry.
- Security forces neutralised terrorists Abu Hamza and Yasir during Operation Mahadev. They believe Yasir was involved in the recent Pahalgam attack. The Army, CRPF, and Jammu and Kashmir Police conducted the joint operation. Suleman, also known as Hashim Moosa, previously served in the Pakistan Army. The name “Mahadev” symbolizes Lord Shiva and the destruction of evil.
- Exercise Bold Kurukshetra 2025 began on 27 July 2025 in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. Indian and Singaporean mechanised units are conducting joint tabletop and computer-based warfare exercises. Senior officers led both sides and exchanged regimental flags during the opening ceremony. The exercise aims to boost interoperability and strengthen India–Singapore defence cooperation.
- The National Legal Services Authority launched Veer Parivar Sahayata Yojana 2025 in Srinagar during a regional conference. The scheme will set up legal clinics at State, District, and Central Sainik Boards across the country. NALSA will appoint nodal officers, legal aid counsels, and paralegal volunteers, including ex-servicemen, to assist defence families. These clinics will offer free legal help for property, pension, matrimonial, and civil issues with e-Lok Adalats and mediation. This initiative fulfills Article 39A and ensures justice for defence personnel and their families.
- The NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar (NISAR) satellite is all set to launch on July 30, symbolizing a landmark collaboration between India and the United States in space research and earth observation. ISRO and NASA jointly developed the NISAR satellite to monitor Earth using dual-frequency synthetic aperture radars (L‑band and S‑band). It will launch aboard a GSLV‑F16 rocket from Sriharikota on 30 July 2025 into Sun‑synchronous orbit at ~743 km altitude . What is Nisar? NISAR will map all land and ice surfaces every 12 days using SweepSAR technology, providing high-resolution, day‑and‑night, all‑weather data . Scientists and policymakers will use its data to monitor ecosystems, ground deformation, ice mass, sea‑level rise, and natural hazards . With its precision and global coverage, NISAR exemplifies scientific cooperation and Earth‑observation innovation .
- Thailand and Cambodia will hold peace talks in Kuala Lumpur to de‑escalate deadly border clashes. The conflict killed over 30 people and displaced more than 200,000 civilians. The long‑standing dispute centers on the Preah Vihear Temple area, awarded to Cambodia by the ICJ in 1962, but contested by Thailand over surrounding land. Both sides aim to secure a ceasefire and avoid further violence. The talks carry strategic importance for regional stability and diplomatic relation.
- The world bid farewell to Tom Lehrer, the celebrated musical satirist and mathematics master, who passed away at the age of 97 at his home in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Known for his razor-sharp wit and incisive commentary on society, Lehrer left behind a legacy that continues to resonate across music, education, and cultural discourse.
- India wrapped up their campaign at the 2025 FISU World University Games in Germany’s Rhine-Ruhr region, finishing 20th in the medal standings. India won a total of 12 medals, with two gold, five silver, and as many bronze. Japan topped the overall standings with 34 gold medals, with the People’s Republic of China coming in second with 30 golds, followed by the USA with 28.
- The President Smt Droupadi Murmu has congratulated Indian Grandmasters Divya Deshmukh and Koneru Humpy on being the winner and runner up respectively at the FIDE Women’s World Cup 2025. Divya Deshmukh became the first Indian woman to win the FIDE Women’s World Cup title after defeating fellow Indian Koneru Humpy in the final, in Batumi, Georgia.
