- Amit Shah unveiled the National Cooperative Policy 2025 on July 24 in New Delhi. The policy covers 2025 to 2045. It aims to triple the cooperative sector’s GDP share by 2034. It plans one cooperative society in every village. It targets 2 lakh new PACS by February 2026. The policy rests on six strategic pillars. It promotes inclusion of youth and women. It expands cooperatives into taxi, tourism, insurance, and real estate sectors.
- On July 23, 2025, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw confirmed NHSRCL started preparing new bullet train DPRs. NHSRCL plans to expand bullet trains beyond the Mumbai–Ahmedabad corridor. The DPRs cover routes like Delhi–Varanasi, Delhi–Ahmedabad, and Delhi–Amritsar. They also include Mumbai–Nagpur, Mumbai–Hyderabad, and Varanasi–Howrah routes. These routes aim to boost high-speed links between major economic and tourist hubs. The ministry will consider feasibility, demand, and funding before starting construction.
- The National Medical Commission (NMC) proposes new draft rules to streamline recognition of foreign medical courses. Foreign universities or accreditation bodies must now pay $10,000 (₹8.6 lakh) per application for NMC recognition. At the same time, NMC plans to scrap the ₹2.5 lakh fee initially charged to Indian doctors for foreign qualification recognition . These changes aim to uphold medical standards and align India with international practices. NMC opened a 30‑day public consultation period starting July 16, 2025 .
- On July 25, 2025, PM Narendra Modi completed 4,078 consecutive days in office. He surpassed Indira Gandhi’s uninterrupted 4,077-day tenure. Modi became India’s second-longest consecutively serving Prime Minister. Only Jawaharlal Nehru served longer with 16 years and 286 days. Modi took oath as Prime Minister on May 26, 2014. He completed two full terms and started his third in June 2024. He is India’s longest-serving non-Congress Prime Minister. He is the first PM born after Independence. He is the longest-serving PM from a non-Hindi-speaking state.
- On July 24, 2025, PM Narendra Modi and UK PM Keir Starmer signed a landmark India–UK Free Trade Agreement. The agreement targets a $34 billion annual boost in bilateral trade. It cuts tariffs on over 90% of UK exports and 99% of Indian exports. Modi called the deal a blueprint for shared prosperity between both nations. Starmer said it would bring huge benefits and create thousands of new jobs. The pact expands market access for MSMEs, textiles, services, agriculture, and professionals.
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi began a state visit to the Maldives on July 25, 2025, as Guest of Honour at its 60th Independence Day. - ISRO and NIOT successfully completed welding the titanium personnel sphere for Matsya‑6000 on July 23, 2025. They performed over 700 weld trials to ensure high-precision and safety under extreme pressure. This welding marks a major milestone in the Samudrayaan mission under India’s Deep Ocean Mission. The Matsya‑6000 submersible will carry three people to depths of up to 6,000 meters. India now moves closer to its first manned deep-sea exploration mission.
