- June 30 marks the 170th anniversary of the Santhal rebellion, or ‘Hul’. This revolution is one of the earliest tribal uprisings against the British. This revolution began in 1855, two years before the the uprising of 1857, often referred to as “the first war for Indian independence.
- The Union Cabinet has approved the establishment of the International Potato Centre’s South Asia Regional Centre at Agra, as a regional hub of the International Potato Centre. Central Potato and Sweet Potato Research Centre (CSARC) – It will be established at Singna of Agra district, UttarPradesh.
- Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs has launched the “Adi Karmyogi” programme, a nationwide initiative aimed at strengthening the execution of tribal welfare schemes by motivating and training field-level officials. Announced at the conclusion of the “Adi Anveshan” National Conference held at Vanijya Bhavan, New Delhi.
- India’s postal system is set to undergo a digital revolution, with all post office counters across the nation adopting UPI-enabled QR code payments by August 2025.
- Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI), through its arm the National Sample Survey Office (NSO), launched the GoIStats mobile application. This innovative app offers on-the-go access to real-time official data, marking a major step toward data transparency, citizen empowerment and digital inclusion.
