  1. Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday (June 6, 2025) launched the Bharatiya Bhasha Anubhag (BBA), or Indian Languages Section to provide an organised platform for all Indian languages to move towards “freeing the administration from the influence of foreign languages”.

After nearly 28 years in the making, the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) s a 272-km strategic railway project has finally become fully operational with the inauguration of the Sangaldan to Katra section on June 6, 2025. This project aims to provide seamless connectivity between Jammu and the Kashmir Valley crossing through the world’s highest railway bridge on the Chenab and several record-breaking tunnels including India’s longest operational rail tunnel which originally began in 1997.

An important archaeological discovery has been made in Udampatti village of Melur taluk of Tamil Nadu, where the foundation of an 800-year-old Shiva temple belonging to the later Pandya period has been unearthed. Although only the stone base remains, the site is of major historical interest due to Tamil inscriptions dating back to 1217-1218 CE that reveal the temple’s name “Thennavanisvaram” and its financially independent status.
  5. The Reserve Bank of India has rolled out new guidelines to enhance the LTV ratio on gold loans up to ₹2.5 lakh, raising it to 85% from the previous cap of 75%. Effective from April 2026 these reforms aim to support small-scale borrowers while tightening risk protocols for lenders.

In a major boost to satellite-based internet connectivity in India, Elon Musk’s Starlink has secured the Global Mobile Personal Communication by Satellite (GMPCS) licence from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT). Starlink becomes the third company authorized to provide satellite communication services in India alongside Bharti Airtel-backed OneWeb and Reliance Jio’s Satellite Communications.
  7. Veteran Bollywood actor Jeetendra sells Andheri plot for Rs 855 crore to NTT Global Data Centers. The transaction, believed to be one of the largest real estate deals involving a Bollywood family, comes at a time when global tech giants are looking to expand their data center network in India.

    2. Abdulla Aboobacker secured India’s second gold in the men’s triple jump, registering a leap of 16.21 meters on his third attempt.
    3. Olympian Jyothi Yarraji got victory in the women’s 100m hurdles .
    4. Tejas Shirse, in the men’s 110m hurdles, also claimed gold in his pet event with a season-best time of 13.52s.
    5. India won gold medals in both the men’s and women’s 100m relays.
