1.Rouble Nagi Wins Global Teacher Prize 2026 for Transforming Education Through Art

Indian teacher Rouble Nagi has won the Global Teacher Prize 2026 and received the one million dollar award at the World Government Summit in Dubai. The prize was presented by GEMS Education and handed over by Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

She was honoured for turning neglected walls into interactive educational murals. These murals teach reading, writing, arithmetic, along with public health and environmental awareness. Over the past two decades, her efforts have helped bring more than one million children into formal education.

Through the Rouble Nagi Art Foundation, she has established over 800 learning centres across India. As a result, her programmes reduced school dropout rates by over 50 percent. She now plans to use the prize money to set up a free vocational institute for underprivileged youth.

2. RCB Beat Delhi Capitals to Win Second Women’s Premier League Title

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) clinched their second Women’s Premier League (WPL) title after defeating Delhi Capitals by six wickets in Vadodara last night. Chasing a challenging target of 204 runs, RCB played a brilliant innings and reached 204 for 4 in 19.4 overs. Skipper Smriti Mandhana led from the front with a stunning 87 runs off 41 balls. Meanwhile, Georgia Voll supported her strongly with 79 runs off 54 balls.

Earlier, Delhi Capitals posted 203 for 4 in 20 overs. Captain Jemimah Rodrigues scored 57 off 37, while Laura Wolvaardt added 44 off 25. Additionally, Chinelle Henry remained unbeaten on 35 off 15 balls.

3. UN Chief Warns After New START Treaty Expires, Urges US-Russia Talks

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has expressed serious concern over the expiry of the New START nuclear arms control treaty. He urged Russia and the United States to return to negotiations and create a new framework that restores verifiable limits on strategic nuclear weapons. According to him, the treaty’s expiration marks a grave moment for global peace, as there are now no binding restrictions on the world’s two largest nuclear arsenals. He noted that past arms control agreements prevented catastrophe and helped reduce thousands of nuclear weapons. However, he warned that nuclear risks are now at their highest in decades. Therefore, he called for immediate action to build a modern arms control regime.

4. UNICEF Calls for Global Laws to Ban AI-Generated Child Abuse Content

UNICEF has warned that AI-generated sexualised images of children are a serious form of child sexual abuse and must be criminalised. The agency expressed strong concern over the rapid rise in the misuse of AI tools to create abusive content. It noted that deepfake technology is increasingly being used to manipulate real photos of children and produce sexualised images by digitally removing or altering clothing. Therefore, UNICEF urged governments to expand legal definitions of child sexual abuse material to clearly include AI-generated content. It also called for strict punishment for creating, possessing, and distributing such material. Moreover, UNICEF asked AI developers and digital platforms to add strong safeguards, improve moderation, and invest in detection tools to stop circulation quickly.

5. Jharkhand Women Win Gold at Para Throwball Federation Cup 2026

Jharkhand’s women’s team won the gold medal in the Para Throwball National Federation Cup 2026 after defeating hosts Rajasthan 21-17 in the final at Jhunjhunu. The tournament, held from February 3 to 5, witnessed strong competition and disciplined performances from all teams. Jharkhand played with confidence and maintained a well-planned strategy throughout the event. As a result, they completed a composed campaign and lifted the title.

Meanwhile, in the men’s category, Andhra Pradesh emerged as champions, while Telangana finished as runners-up. Haryana secured the bronze medal. Jharkhand ended fourth after losing a closely fought semifinal.

6.PM Modi Welcomes ENPO Agreement, Calls It a Boost for Eastern Nagaland Development

 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said that the agreement signed between the Central Government, the Nagaland Government, and the Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organisation (ENPO). It  will create new opportunities and prosperity for the people. Sharing a post by Union Home Minister Amit Shah on X, the Prime Minister stated that the pact will further speed up the development of Eastern Nagaland. Moreover, he said the agreement highlights the government’s strong commitment to peace, progress, and inclusive growth in the Northeast.

Meanwhile, Home Minister Amit Shah called the pact a major step towards fulfilling the Prime Minister’s vision of a peaceful and prosperous Northeast by resolving long-pending issues.

7. India to Showcase Defence Strength at World Defence Show 2026 in Saudi Arabia

Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth will lead a high-level Indian delegation to Saudi Arabia for the third World Defence Show (WDS) 2026, starting Sunday. The two-day event will host over 700 exhibitors and nearly 400 official delegations. The Defence Ministry said the Indian team will include senior officials from the Department of Defence Production and the Armed Forces.

During the event, Mr Seth will inaugurate India’s first-ever India Pavilion, spread across 400 square metres. The pavilion will display India’s indigenous defence capabilities through major public sector enterprises showcasing tanks, missiles, radars, artillery systems, and ammunition. Meanwhile, Mr Seth will also hold a bilateral meeting with his Saudi counterpart and interact with industry bodies to strengthen defence cooperation.

8. RBI Keeps Repo Rate at 5.25%, Revises Inflation and Growth Forecast

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has decided to keep the repo rate unchanged at 5.25 percent. RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra announced that the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) unanimously took this decision in its final bi-monthly policy review of the fiscal year. As a result, all other policy rates will also remain unchanged. Earlier, RBI had cut the repo rate by 25 basis points in December 2025.

Meanwhile, RBI revised CPI inflation estimates to 4 percent for Q1 and 4.2 percent for Q2 of 2026-27. It happens mainly due to higher precious metal prices. It also raised GDP growth projections to 6.9 percent and 7.0 percent for the first two quarters. Additionally, RBI proposed new guidelines for digital fraud compensation up to ₹25,000 . A new plans setup for stricter rules on mis-selling and loan recovery practices.

9. Government Issues Over 8.47 Crore Farmer ID Cards, Targets 11 Crore by 2026-27

The government has issued over 8 crore 47 lakh Farmer Identification Cards so far and aims to generate 11 crore Farmer IDs by 2026-27. Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan shared this information in the Rajya Sabha during Question Hour. He said Farmer IDs are currently being generated in 19 states, including Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Punjab, Odisha, and Telangana.

Meanwhile, the minister added that 2 crore 90 lakh farmers have already been linked with the National Crop Insurance Portal. He further stated that the government’s agriculture policy focuses on increasing farmers’ income, improving food security, and ensuring nutritious food supply. Moreover, the government is promoting technology to raise production, reduce costs, and provide fair prices and crop loss compensation.

10. Surajkund Crafts Mela 2026 Showcases Indian Culture with Global Touch

The 39th Surajkund International Crafts Mela in Faridabad, Haryana, is being held with great enthusiasm. This year’s theme is “Vocal to Global”, with Uttar Pradesh and Meghalaya as the theme states, presenting their rich traditions and culture. Additionally, Egypt is participating as the partner nation, giving the fair an international flavour.

Haryana Tourism Corporation MD Parth Gupta said the Mela supports the vision of Atma Nirbhar Bharat by promoting self-reliance among artisans. Moreover, the event offers an international platform for artists to showcase handicrafts, folk performances, and cuisines. To ensure safety and comfort, authorities have installed around 100 CCTV cameras and arranged cleanliness, wheelchairs, and ambulance services. Visitors can enjoy crafts and cultural experiences from 20 Indian states.

11. Amit Shah Visits Kathua Border, Launches BSF Welfare Schemes and Reviews Security

Union Home Minister Amit Shah today visited forward areas in the Hiranagar sector along the International Border in Kathua, starting his two-day tour of Jammu and Kashmir. He inspected BSF border arrangements to curb infiltration and visited the Gurnam and Bobiyian outposts.

During the visit, Mr Shah e-inaugurated and laid the foundation for six welfare schemes for BSF personnel. These include improved housing facilities, health and medical support, recreational amenities, infrastructure development at border posts, better living conditions, and family welfare initiatives.

Later, he chaired a high-level security review meeting at Lok Bhawan, Jammu, with LG Manoj Sinha, Army Chief, and senior officers of police, BSF, CRPF and intelligence agencies. He also met martyr families and distributed compassionate appointment letters. Tomorrow, he will review development works before returning to Delhi.

12. India Lift U19 World Cup 2026 Title with Record-Breaking Final Win

India won the U-19 Cricket World Cup 2026 for a record sixth time after defeating England by 100 runs in the final at Harare, Zimbabwe. After choosing to bat first, India posted a huge 411 for 9 in 50 overs. Star batter Vaibhav Suryavanshi played a sensational knock of 175 off 80 balls. Captain Ayush Mhatre scored 53 and Abhigyan Kundu also added 40.

Chasing 412, England were bowled out for 311 in 40.2 overs.  Despite Caleb Falconer’s 115 and Ben Dawkins’ 66. India’s RS Ambrish took three wickets. Vaibhav won both Player of the Match and Player of the Series. President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President C P Radhakrishnan, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the victorious team.
