1. Cabinet Clears Atomic Energy Bill for Private Participation. The Union Cabinet approved the Atomic Energy Bill to amend existing nuclear laws. The Bill allows private sector participation in nuclear power generation, which was earlier restricted under the Atomic Energy Act, 1962. The move aims to boost clean energy capacity and attract investment.

 

2. Cabinet Approves 100% FDI in Insurance Sector. The Union Cabinet approved the Insurance Amendment Bill to raise foreign direct investment in insurance companies from 74% to 100%. The reform seeks to expand insurance penetration, attract global capital, increase competition, and support the goal of “Insurance for All by 2047”.

 

3. Government Extends FPO Scheme Till 2031. The central scheme for Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) has been extended for five more years from 2026 to 2031. The extension aims to address operational gaps, strengthen farmer collectives, and enhance agricultural market access and income.
